This past weekend gave me so much life. I flew bac This past weekend gave me so much life. I flew back home to VA to celebrate my lil bro graduating from The Basic School for USMC. He did it while being a new dad, a husband, and navigating challenges and yet he still made it through. It’s the strength and resilience for me! What really got me though was watching my daughter and niece play together, whew🥹😍. Now that I’m a mom in my 30s, the simple things like joy, family, and connection hit different. There’s something about doing her hair that teache There’s something about doing her hair that teaches us both something. She’s learning how to sit still, how to be gentle, how to look in the mirror and admire herself when we’re done. And I’m learning how to be gentle with her hair (she’s tenderheaded), and how to plan styles that actually work best for her different hair lengths. That’s what the last year and a half of motherhood has been: us learning each other. Those sleepy newborn cuddling days have grown into big toddler energy. And somehow, I’m still growing right along with her. And here we are now, celebrating my second Mother’s Day. I’m still learning. still growing. still tryna be the best mother I can be. I feel her love so that’s all I need to let me know that I’m doing a great job as her mama. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mamas doing the best they can, learning as they go, and surviving the newborn and toddler trenches.
